* While charging the vents must be open so that the gases( H2 and O2 )can be able to escape, otherwise the case may be get cracked.
* During charging the battery room temperature should not exceed 40 degree Celsius and so that violent gassing does not takes place.Instead of charging battery at a constant charging current we use high current and at starting time and reduce the rate gradually as the battery becomes fully charged.
* Open flame, lighted cigarette etc.should not carry near a battery while charging.charging. Because the mixture of Hydrogen and Oxygen is really explosive.
* After charging water should be added to compensate the loss of water by gases evaporation. The level of the electrolyte should be 1 cm above the tops of the plates. If water is not added , the excessive concentration of H2SO4 may damage the battery.
